RoboSense Celebrates Major Milestone with One Millionth LiDAR Delivery
In a remarkable achievement, Chinese LiDAR manufacturer RoboSense Technology (HKG: 2498) has successfully delivered its millionth LiDAR unit, signifying a transformative moment in the company’s journey and the broader tech landscape. This monumental event took place on February 24, 2025, when RoboSense’s state-of-the-art LiDAR rolled off the production line at their Shenzhen facility, just days after it was completed on February 21.
A Groundbreaking Milestone in LiDAR Technology
RoboSense is the first company globally to reach the production milestone of one million high-channel LiDAR units. The company celebrated this achievement with the delivery of the E1R LiDAR, designed specifically for robotics, to Shanghai-based Humanoid Robot. Humanoid Robot is set to integrate this cutting-edge technology into its full-sized humanoid robot, the "Qinglong."
The significance of this breakthrough cannot be overstated. As the world increasingly turns towards automation and artificial intelligence, the demand for advanced sensing technology, such as LiDAR, continues to grow. RoboSense’s products cater primarily to the automotive sector, as evidenced by their impressive sales performance in 2024, where they sold a staggering 544,200 units—an astounding 95.52% of which were automotive LiDARs.
Sales Surge and Future Projections
Following a robust upward trend, RoboSense’s sales figures skyrocketed, more than doubling from 256,000 units in 2023 to 544,200 in 2024—a growth of 113%. Most notably, 519,800 of these units were intended for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), underscoring RoboSense’s excellence in automotive applications. Meanwhile, the company’s LiDAR offerings for robotics and other applications accounted for 4.48% of their total sales, with 24,400 units sold.
The Humanoid Robot and Its Capabilities
So, what makes the "Qinglong" humanoid robot special? This innovative machine boasts an impressive 43 degrees of freedom in its joints and can walk briskly at speeds of up to 1 meter per second even when carrying a load of 40 kilograms. These capabilities showcase how advanced robotics technology, coupled with high-quality LiDAR, can lead to incredible advancements in human-robot interaction.
Shifting Focus: The Emerging Robotics Sector
With the automotive sector nearing maturity, RoboSense is strategically redirecting its resources to explore the promising field of robotics. The company has recently announced its new vision of becoming a "robotics platform company," producing essential components and solutions tailored to the AI robotics industry. Their innovative product launches, like the E1R LiDAR and other advanced robot vision solutions, demonstrate their commitment to this evolving market.
Final Thoughts
RoboSense’s milestone achievement not only highlights its leadership in the LiDAR industry but also sets the stage for further innovations in automation and AI technology. As the demand for sophisticated robotic solutions grows, RoboSense is poised to influence the next generation of robotics significantly.
