Excitement Builds for Nevada State Elementary Robotics Championship
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — This Saturday, Las Vegas will transform into a hotspot for young tech enthusiasts as the Nevada State Elementary Robotics Championship kicks off. Twenty-five talented teams from across the Silver State are set to showcase their skills and creativity in a thrilling competition that could propel them to the World Championship in Dallas this coming May.
"We’re absolutely thrilled! We have 25 teams participating from all corners of Nevada," shared Anna Ebert, a dedicated teacher and robotics coach at Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon. She emphasized the hard work and innovation that these elementary students have invested in building and programming their robots throughout the season.
A Showcase of Talent and Teamwork
The championship day promises to be electrifying, featuring not just the robots but the incredible student builders, programmers, and drivers behind them. Family, friends, and community members are expected to turn out in large numbers to support these budding innovators. Such events foster a sense of camaraderie and community spirit, which is richer in Nevada’s diverse environment.
Qualifying Teams and Their Journey
Among the participants, three standout teams have already earned their spots in the World Championships:
- Eagle IQ from Coral Academy Cadence, Henderson
- Mythri Deadly Demons from Mythri STEM Academy, Henderson
- Cyber Storm from Engineering for Kids, Las Vegas
These teams have not only shown exceptional skill in robotics but have also embraced the spirit of teamwork and collaboration — essential traits for any aspiring engineer or programmer.
The Power of Robotics Education
The championship isn’t just a competition; it’s an opportunity for students to dive deep into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. As they build and program their robots, students learn critical problem-solving skills and the value of perseverance in the face of challenges.
In a world that increasingly leans on technology, nurturing such skills in young learners is vital. Events like this championship pave the way for future innovators, encouraging them to envision a career in STEM while providing a platform for creativity and ingenuity.
Join the Celebration
As the anticipation builds, anyone with a passion for robotics and innovation is encouraged to come and cheer on these young competitors. You might find inspiration from their projects and stories, reflecting the bright future of technology in our communities.
