Ozone Robotics Soars High with Third Consecutive World Championship Bid
DELAWARE, Ohio — Team 4611, better known as Ozone Robotics from the Olentangy Local School District, is making waves in the world of robotics. They’ve clinched a coveted slot in the "FIRST Robotics World Championship" for the third time in just four years, a remarkable feat that showcases their dedication and ingenuity. This incredible achievement came after they triumphed at the FIRST Robotics Finger Lakes Regional on March 15.
Rising Stars in Robotics
Ozone Robotics is not just any team; they are a passionate group comprised of students from all four high schools in the Olentangy district. Their hard work has put them at the pinnacle of Ohio robotics, ranking as the number one team in the state, and they’ve earned a spot among the top 50 teams globally. This team spirit is palpable—members mentor three middle school robotics teams and two elementary school LEGO teams, all of which are experiencing success at state competitions as well.
Since the season kicked off on January 4, they have been tirelessly crafting their competition robot, affectionately named "Trident," to excel in this year’s FIRST Robotics REEFSCAPE season. It’s not just about building a robot; it’s about teamwork, problem-solving, and fostering a passion for STEM among younger students.
Upcoming Challenges and Their Road to Success
The highly anticipated world championship is scheduled for April 16-19 in Houston, and Ozone Robotics is gearing up for another thrilling competition. Prior to that, they’ll face off in the Buckeye Regional in Cleveland from April 2-5, where they’ll compete against talented teams from Worthington, Upper Arlington, and New Albany, all aiming for that top spot again.
Reflecting on their previous performances, Ozone Robotics finished as finalists in the Johnson Division at last year’s championship, which is no small feat—this placed them alongside approximately 64 elite teams. With such a strong track record and a hunger for more success, they are now actively fundraising to support their journey to Houston. As the competition draws near, the atmosphere is electric. The camaraderie among team members and their commitment to learning and growth are inspiring for both their peers and new aspiring engineers. If you’re in the area or simply a fan of innovation and robotics, consider supporting Ozone Robotics as they continue to make their mark in the robotics community.
