In a world where AI adoption is on the rise, organizations are finding it increasingly challenging to prevent data breaches. To tackle this issue, Proofpoint is set to enhance its security offerings with the acquisition of Normalyze, which specializes in Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) tools.
This acquisition is expected to be finalized within the next month. Normalyze’s platform touts “the fastest scanning at scale” for diverse data environments, which is a huge plus for companies eager to harness their data for AI uses but facing difficulties in assessing the associated risks.
Understanding the Human Element in AI Security
Proofpoint is making it clear that the human element plays a critical role in security threats. Employees can unknowingly jeopardize security through actions like falling for phishing scams or making misconfigurations. Thankfully, DSPM technology can shed light on the specific risks organizations must address.
“Today, data is at risk because of human behavior. Modern applications are rapidly changing, driven by small teams of developers working independently on microservices and various data sources, leading to an explosion of data,” shares Mayank Choudhary, EVP and General Manager of Data Security & Compliance at Proofpoint. “These modern applications are highly interconnected, making it hard for security teams to manage the heterogeneous and ever-growing sprawl of their data. By merging Proofpoint’s leading human-centric security platform with Normalyze’s groundbreaking DSPM technology, we can give our customers more visibility and control over their data posture, helping them to reduce human risk across their organizations.”
Proofpoint’s Innovation Continues
Proofpoint isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Just last month, the company unveiled a new framework for its Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions, along with advancements in Digital Communications Governance. With the integration of Normalyze, Proofpoint is expanding its suite of tools to classify and discover data using AI—without the need for agents and while allowing in-place management. Prioritizing risks and ensuring compliance has become easier thanks to tools such as DataValuator and Data Risk Navigator.
This proactive approach not only helps in securing sensitive data but also sets a standard in the industry. As organizations increasingly rely on AI, having the right tools to manage data security becomes more crucial than ever.
