Jio Platforms Unveils Game-Changing Cloud-Based AI PC
Bringing AI to Every Device
In an exciting development for tech enthusiasts and professionals alike, Jio Platforms, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, is set to launch a revolutionary cloud-based personal computer that promises to democratize artificial intelligence (AI). This innovative platform aims to make AI accessible to users across India, allowing them to develop and deploy high-compute AI applications without the need for specialized hardware.
During the Mumbai Tech Week 2025, Akash Ambani, chairman of Jio Infocomm and son of India’s wealthiest individual, Mukesh Ambani, shared insights into this transformative project. “Our upcoming cloud PC will be completely hardware-free and accessible across various devices,” Ambani emphasized, highlighting its potential to bridge the digital divide.
AI for Everyone: The Vision Behind Jio’s Cloud PC
This new cloud PC is designed to empower users by eliminating traditional barriers associated with high-performance computing. Unlike earlier initiatives like the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC), which focused on providing devices, Jio’s approach encourages users to leverage their existing devices. This strategic shift aims to reach millions of users and scale AI services at a fraction of the typical cost.
Ambani elaborated, “We have a consumer application that’s coming soon. It’s a complete PC in the cloud, allowing you to build powerful AI applications from the comfort of your home.” With Jio’s extensive network, users across India are set to experience unprecedented access to AI capabilities.
Introducing JioBrain: Machine Learning Made Simple
Jio is also taking strides in the enterprise space with its upcoming offering, JioBrain, which will provide machine learning-as-a-service (MLaaS). This feature will relieve businesses from the burden of investing in expensive infrastructure, allowing them to tap into Jio’s robust resources effortlessly. “You can simply connect to JioBrain, and we’ll be rolling that out in the coming quarters as we refine the use cases,” Ambani stated.
A Vision for Growth and Connectivity
As part of its ambitious expansion plans, Jio is targeting 100 million users for its smart TV operating system, JioTele OS. Ambani stated, “One of our main growth missions is connecting every home. This will also open doors for developers, creating a vibrant ecosystem for innovation.”
Calling AI one of the most significant technological revolutions of our time, Ambani suggests that it could play a crucial role in sustaining India’s economic growth of 10% or more. However, he insisted on the importance of building the right infrastructure, fostering research, and nurturing talent to make India a leader in the AI landscape.
To support this vision, Reliance Group has announced plans for a groundbreaking 3-gigawatt AI data center in Jamnagar, Gujarat, scheduled to become operational by 2027.
Wrapping Up
With Jio Platforms leading the charge, the future of AI looks promising for millions in India. The initiative to create a cloud-based AI PC and offer machine learning services represents a significant leap towards making advanced technology more accessible.
