Apple Unveils New Developer Betas with Innovative Features for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS
Apple has recently introduced the latest developer betas for iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS 15.1 Sequoia. This update brings exciting new features under the Apple Intelligence umbrella, most notably the innovative object removal capability in photos.
Titled "Clean Up," this new feature empowers users to effortlessly identify and eliminate unwanted objects from their images without compromising the overall integrity of the photograph. Utilizing advanced AI technology, the system is adept at regenerating the background once an object has been removed, expertly considering all elements such as shadows and reflections in the process.
Users can easily use this feature by employing smart detection, allowing them to remove an object with just a single tap. For greater precision, individuals have the option to either circle or brush over any distractions they wish to eliminate from their photos.
In a competitive landscape, it’s worth noting that Google recently launched a similar feature called Magic Eraser, which became available to all Google Photos users for free earlier this year.
This release follows July’s rollout of the initial batch of Apple Intelligence features alongside the iOS 18.1 developer beta. Those features included tools for writing, SMS and Mail notification summaries, natural language search, memory creation in Photos, transcription capabilities for calls and notes, and smart replies in Mail. However, the Apple Intelligence features are currently limited to English-speaking users with their region set to the U.S.
As Apple continues to innovate, users eagerly anticipate how these enhancements will elevate their experience across the company’s devices.
