Today, we are thrilled to introduce the next iteration of our model: Gemini 1.5.
Gemini 1.5 marks a significant leap forward in performance. This model encapsulates a revolutionary approach, drawing on extensive research and engineering enhancements across nearly all facets of our foundational model development and infrastructure. A key component of this upgrade is the novel Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architecture, designed to optimize both training efficiency and service delivery.
The initial version available for early testing is Gemini 1.5 Pro. This mid-size multimodal model is refined for versatility across various tasks, achieving performance metrics on par with our largest model to date, 1.0 Ultra. One of its most noteworthy features is its pioneering capability for long-context comprehension.
Gemini 1.5 Pro is equipped with an impressive standard context window of 128,000 tokens. However, starting today, a select group of developers and enterprise clients will have the opportunity to experience an advanced version with a context window extending up to 1 million tokens via AI Studio and Vertex AI in a private preview.
As we progressively introduce the full 1 million token context window, we are simultaneously enhancing latency, streamlining computational power requirements, and amplifying the overall user experience. Our team is eager for users to explore this groundbreaking feature, with additional details on broader availability forthcoming.
