XPeng Unveils Innovations at 2024 AI Day: Humanoid Robot and Extended-Range EV Technology

On Wednesday, electric vehicle pioneer XPeng showcased its latest technological advancements during the 2024 AI Day in Guangzhou. Among the standout reveals were their innovative humanoid robot, named Iron, and the Kunpeng Super Electric System, both set to reshape the landscape of electric mobility and robotics.
Introducing the Kunpeng Super Electric System
XPeng introduced the Kunpeng Super Electric System, a cutting-edge platform that boasts an impressive 800V high-voltage silicon carbide foundation. This system is specifically designed to power the company’s upcoming extended-range models. The results are remarkable: the platform offers a pure electric driving range of 430 kilometers, with a jaw-dropping combined range of over 1,400 kilometers. This makes it a compelling option for both local and long-distance travel.

The Iron Humanoid Robot: A Leap into Robotics
After teasing the Iron humanoid robot last August, XPeng fully unveiled it during the event. The robot features over 60 joints and boasts 200 degrees of freedom—a testament to the technology and innovation driving its design. Developed over five years, the Iron robot has already started to integrate into XPeng’s operations, primarily facilitating tasks in factories and retail environments.

Analyst Insights and Future Outlook
In a recent note, Tim Hsiao of Morgan Stanley raised XPeng’s stock price target from $11.70 to $17.00, reaffirming an Overweight rating. Hsiao highlighted that XPeng is poised to demonstrate a range of technologies from AI Day, which could bolster its market position in the increasingly competitive smart EV sector.
The company has ambitious plans, including launching a robotaxi model by 2026, equipped with advanced Turing chips and the Canghai Platform, promising 3,000T of processing power. Analysts believe XPeng is prepared to embark on a robust model cycle that began with the M03, which has seen strong sales.
Record-Breaking Deliveries
XPeng achieved a milestone in October, delivering a record 23,917 units—an impressive 20% increase compared to the previous year. This surge in deliveries marks a significant recovery for the company and signals a successful ramp-up in production and market presence.
Global Ambitions
As part of its growth strategy, XPeng is eyeing expansion into the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), where it is already active in the UAE, Israel, Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon. The goal is to operate in 60 markets by the end of 2025, showcasing its commitment to global influence and outreach.
